Biography of Rabindranath Tagore

Rbindranath Tagore was born on 7 may 1861 in Calcutta (kolkata) best Bengal in Jorasanko mansion. He is from a very rich family, He had five sisters and six brothers. Among them he was the youngest. His mother Sarada devi died when he was just a child, his father’s name was Debendranath Tagore and he was the leader of the brahmo samaj which was a new religious sect in the nineteenth century. Rbindranath Tagore was educated at home. At the age of eight he started composing poems and by the age sixteen he started publishing poems under the pseudonym Bhanusimha. In 1877 he wrote the short story ‘Bhikharini’. At a very young age he was a multi talented boy of his sibling. He drew inspiration by reading the classical poetry of Kalidasa and started coming up with classical poems of his own. Some of his other influences and inspirations came from his brothers and sisters.

At the age of seventeen he was sent to England for formal schooling in 1878 as his father wanted him to become a barrister, he had no interest in reading at his school. After learning the essence of English, Irish and Scottish literature and music, he returned to India and married Mrinalini Devi when she was only 10 years old and had five children. Rabindranath Tagore’s life was so struggle , his father bought a huge area of land in shantiniketan and he wanted to establish a school on his father’s property. In 1901 he founded an ashram there and their classes were under the tree and there was a prayer hall they named that hall as a mandir. Traditional teacher was followed in that school and they teached all the students the Shishya method. Unluckily his wife and two sons died due to illness in shantiniketan but Rabindranath Tagore never give up in his life and he worked hard as much as possible by doing all this method he became popular all over the world.

In 1913 Rabindranath Tagore was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature and he became the first asian person Nobel laureate. Not only that he even composed our national anthem. He lectured in several parts of the country like Japan, the United States he even went to Mexico, Rome, etc.. In 1927, he embarked on a Southeast Asian tour and inspired many with his wisdom and literary works. He even visited as many as 13 countries for lectures. The History of diwali

Lord Rama: This story refers to mythology legend.It is said that Rama returned to Ayodhya with his wife, sita and brother, lakshman. After completing his 14 years of exile, and slaying the king demon ravana and conquering the lanka. The day Lord Rama Returned to Ayodhya It was the new moon day of kartik. The people of Ayodhya welcomed Lord Rama by lighting the diyas and lamps and bursted the firecracure.

The Birth Of Goddess Lakshmi: According to the legend, it is said that the lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Both God and Demon were fighting for the Amrit. Which is the nectar for immortality. So, all the gods were upset and they thought that how we should defeat them. Finally they got an idea, they all visited the ocean and developed one goddess that is lakshmi. The gods asked her to go to devas and asuras then she chose devas. Later, she became the wife of vishnu.

Lord Krishna: In the part of Mahabharata , the pandavas had a defeat in the game by the kauravas and the five royal brothers had to suffer for 13 years of exile. After returning to hastinapur their wifes and mother kunti were very excited . The people of hastinapur welcome the pandavas by lighting the diyas and the lamps. Thus this also considered to be diwali

Goddess Kali: According to the mythology legend. It is said that the gods were defeated in the battle by the demon. Seeing this, goddess Durga gives a birth to Goddess Kali on her forehead to save heaven and earth from giant demons. After killing all the demons. She got angry and lost her control, aggressively started killing anyone in her way. Seeing this, Lord shiva came to her way and slept in front of her on the ground. Unknowingly she kept one leg of his stomach, she showed down and she took out her tongue shamelessly. This incident is mostly celebrated in west bengali as kali puja on diwali night.

On the Diwali night we worship goddess Lakshmi and lord Ganesha with our families and cousins after finishing the puja we go up the terrace and burst firecrackers with my friends and cousins. I also give a colorful wrapped present to my friends in return she also gives me. Last time she gave me a dream creature, I hung in my bedroom which attracted me more when I went to sleep. I look at first and I sleep.

In 2018 I celebrate Diwali at my friend’s house in bangalore. It was somehow new for me but it was a very enjoyable day of my life because it was my first time to go out of state and leave the family. My friend’s family was very good to me. They all treat me nicely, they take care of me in everytime. One day the whole family went to the market to buy utensils, gold and clothes etc. my friend ‘s mom bought me a beautiful dress. On the occasion day of diwali my friend told me to get ready with a beautiful dress and come to the temple. I did as she said, there all the members were standing and I was the one who was late. They all worship ganesh and lakshmi puja and then we enjoy bursting firecrackers. It was very funny because I was scared of firecrackers. They all laugh at me and I too laugh. It was the funniest day of my life. And then we ate a lot of sweets and foods etc. that was my first time celebrating Diwali in bangalore. Now then I never go anywhere to celebrate diwali.

History Of Celibrating Raksha Bandhan

In earlier time the raksha bandhan is mainly celebrated for protection.there are some different types of story and legend in hindu mythology

Santoshi maa. Lord Ganesha had two sons, named subh and labh. They had no sister to tie rakhi. They both requested his father (lord ganesha) to bring a sister who would tie rakhi to them. Finally lord Ganeshe created Santoshi maa who tied rakhi to their sons.

Indra dev and Indrani. Once there was a fierce battle between the gods and the demon. Lord Indra fights on the side of the god. It was very difficult to win from the powerful demon. The war continued for a long time. Seeing this, Indra’s wife Indrani went to Lord Vishnu there and told her everything about the war and Lord Vishnu gave her a holy thread made up of cotton. She then tied the holy thread on her husband’s wrist. Lord Indra defeated the demon and recovered the amaravati.

Goddess Lakshmi. When Lord Vishnu won the three worlds from the demon king Bali, he asked to stay beside him in the palace. Lord Vishnu agreed and started living in his palace. Seeing this. Goddess Lakshmi went to the king Bali and tied the holy thread on Bali’s wrist.When king Bali asked what she wanted in return. She then asked to free her husband and let him return to vaikuntha.

Krishn and draupadi. On the festival of makar sankranti, Krishna cut his little finger when he was carrying a sugercane. Seeing this, Krishna’s wife Rukmini sent Sathyabama to bring a bandage but it was too late. seeing this Draupadi tore off a part of her sari and bandaged his finger. In return Krishna promised to protect her in any circumstance.

Buying of Rakhi

Before the coming of Raksha Bandhan. Sisters roam around in the markets to buy rakhi for their brothers. All The shops are decorated with colourful rakhi, they look out of beautiful rakhi in the form of colourful threads. Also they used to buy different types of sweets in the market and at the same time brother’s also buy beautiful gifts for their sister’s.
