Biography of Rabindranath Tagore 

Rbindranath Tagore was born on 7 may  1861 in Calcutta (kolkata) best Bengal in Jorasanko mansion. He is from a very rich family, He had five sisters and six  brothers. Among them he was the youngest. His mother Sarada devi died when he was just a child, his  father’s name was Debendranath Tagore and he was the leader of the brahmo samaj which was a new religious sect in the nineteenth century.  Rbindranath Tagore was educated at home. At the age of eight he started composing poems and by the age sixteen he started publishing poems under the pseudonym Bhanusimha. In 1877 he wrote the short story ‘Bhikharini’. At a very young age he was a multi talented boy of his sibling. He drew inspiration by reading the classical poetry of Kalidasa and started coming up with classical poems of his own. Some of his other influences and inspirations came from his brothers and sisters.

At the age of seventeen he was sent to England for formal schooling in 1878 as his  father wanted him to become a barrister, he had no interest in reading at his school.  After learning the essence of English, Irish and Scottish literature and music, he returned to India and married Mrinalini Devi when she was only 10 years old and had five children. Rabindranath Tagore’s life was so struggle , his father bought a huge area of  land  in shantiniketan and he wanted to establish a school   on his father’s property.  In 1901 he founded an ashram there and their classes were under the tree and there was a prayer hall  they named that hall as a  mandir. Traditional teacher was followed in that school  and they teached all the students the Shishya method. Unluckily his  wife and two sons died due to illness in shantiniketan but Rabindranath Tagore never give up in  his life and he worked hard as much as possible by doing all this method he became popular all over the world.

Nobel peace prize

In 1913 Rabindranath Tagore was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature and he became the first asian person Nobel laureate. Not only that he even composed our national anthem. He lectured in several parts of the country like Japan, the United States he even went to Mexico, Rome, etc.. In 1927, he embarked on a Southeast Asian tour and inspired many with his wisdom and literary works. He even visited as many as 13 countries for lectures. Rabindranath Tagore wrote  so many different kinds of short stories  like Kshudhita Pashan, Haimanti  Kabuliwala, Atottju etc.. Also he composed so many different kinds of poems like  Balaka, Purobi, Sonar Tori and Gitanjali. 

Death of Rabindranath Tagore:

Rabindranath Tagore was in severe pain due to illness  from which he suffered for four years. Thus, he died on 7th August 1941 in the same place at the Jorasanko mansion where he was born.
